A three storey scheme with 9 x 2-bedroom flats constructed using an off-site manufactured building system for Broadland Housing Association in Norwich.

 

The system comprised of steel framed volumetric pods manufactured in China in compliance with UK Construction Standards and shipped as 24no. x 40' long units for assembly on a prepared site in Norwich.

 

Foundations, insulation and holding down plates were placed on the site and the 24 pods were erected within 4 days. Subsequently the pods were clad in facing brickwork.

 

The manufacturing and assembly process was tracked throughout by the BRE and substantially awarded a certificate for full compliance with British Standard  BPS 2020, the only system of its type having been certified in this manner in the UK.
